Lisa Edwards, Ph.D.Welcome!

Thank you for visiting Hopeful Mama. I created this website to provide ideas, perspectives and support for moms as they navigate the journey of motherhood. Think of Hopeful Mama as a place to get mommy-inspired and science-informed strategies for well-being as a mother.

Lisa M. Edwards, Ph.D.

I have two young daughters and live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I’m a mom, like you, trying to stay balanced and hopeful as I endeavor to do the most important and challenging job in the world: parenting. I’m also a psychologist and professor at Marquette University, where I teach and conduct research about positive psychology, perinatal mental health, and multicultural issues in counseling.

What You’ll Find at Hopeful Mama

My blog posts and other resources reflect a blend of personal experience as well as perspectives from positive psychology, education and other fields. I don’t aspire to provide psychological advice; rather, my goal is to share tips and ideas for flourishing in our role as mothers.

Periodically I also post hope notes for moms. The Hope Notes for Moms project is a collection of notes of support for moms, written by moms. If you need a boost of hope, check out this page. If you’d like to contribute a note to the collection, or have any other comments or ideas you’d like to share, please email me at: hopenotesformoms@gmail.com.
